So I have not posted in quite some time so I am going to start by sharing my sweet vacation to Florida. I am going to put it behind a cut because there will be pictures.

Well I have been back in Carbondale a few days and things are going well. My dad is back in Centralia and he has started radiation treatments. He had been having chest pains the week before and went to the cardiologist and got tests done. They said he had fifty percent blockage in two of his arteries and he just need to take pills for it. Well , I think it was Tuesday, he woke up and had severe pain in his chest and went to the ER. They pretty much scanned him and sent him straight to Barnes in St. Louis. They found out that his Cancer, he has lung cancer, had come back. He has had it for awhile, since Christmas but went through chemotherapy and they said all that was left was thirty percent and decided to stop there. Well some of it grew back and grew around one of his arteries and putting pressure on it. So the doctors got his pain under control, with morphine and talked for a few days, keeping an eye on him, doing more tests, and talking, and decided to ship him home on July third, so he could go to Centralia, speak to his doctor and a radiologist. They all agreed that radiation would be the way to go, for the next five weeks, with the stipulation of the possibility of two more weeks after that and possible chemotherapy. The doctors were all really scared because if the tumor grows much bigger, it could rupture the artery and my dad will bleed to death. But so far so good. My dad is pain free due to the pills he is on, and going through radiation treatments that will hopefully shrink the tumor. So, so far, so good. I am optimistic about his treatments but worried, but of course, who wouldn't be. But, I am back in Carbondale, back to work, and trying to relax when I can and trying to help Kiersten plan our wedding. So before I post the test I stole, I just want to thank my friends who posted comments on my hurried post. It meant a lot to me. And huge thanks to the Eel and Rhiannon for being awesome and helping me and Kat by watching and taking care of critters while we were trying to take care of my family. Well enough of that, on to the stolen test.

A coffee cup, plain, white, and a little over sized, like it hold sixteen ounces instead of eight.
8. What do you do with the cup?
Take it inside and wash it, it is my favorite mug.
9. You walk to the edge of the property where you find yourself standing at the edge of a body of water. What kind of body of water is it?
A lake, big and expansive. But quite calm.
10. How will you cross the water?
A little motor boat sitting at my dock.

So, I do not update often enough but of course not enough happens in one day for me to post that often. Lets face it, most days I get up, eat, go to work, come home, eat, relax for a bit and go to sleep. Lather, rinse, repeat. Well when enough time has passed interesting things happen. Like the past couple of days.
Me and Kat both like Starview Vineyards as a place to have our wedding and reception. The place is really nice, the owner is awesome, and the wine is great. Hopefully her mother will agree with us and things will get set in motion. Oh and the owner had the most awesome dog there, a Great Pyrenees. Now some of you may know these dogs, and some of you, Eel and Rhiannon, know them by a certain name, Mr. Tadakichi. Well this dog was soooo great that me and Kat are looking into getting a puppy GP so he and Chewy can get along. I really think that it would be awsome to have a big dog around that likes to relax and is lovable.
Yesterday and today Kat and I went rummaging. The Newman Center was having their yearly sale and I got a pair of comfy sneakers and a fantastic pair of red wingtip dress shoes for $1.00 a piece. Now they are not like bright red but like almost an Ox-Blood red, which is super sweet. We also went to the Library book sale today and found a few pet books and novelty books, which Eel, if you read this we found you a present. I am not going to say what but you will get it soon. Anyway, one of the books we found was a big hardback book on Korea. Yay! Learning more about ones heritage!!! It goes really well with all the searching I have been doing trying to find ways to learn my mothers native tung. Which I think I have only learned hello and I cannot think of how to say it right now, lol. But thanks to Rhiannon for leading me to Crunchyroll.com to watch the Densha-Otoko dramas, which I havent, sorry. I found a huge selection of K-Movies. Me and Kat got done watching Art of Fighting on there and it was really good. Funny, Sad, and a lot of good Fighting. I recommend people go there, sign up for an account and watch the movie. But hopefully between reading about Korea, trying to learn the language and watching movies Korean, I can hopefully pick it up.

I got paid yesterday, and since I have been working 35 hours a week me and Kat a few extra dollars. We went to Hollywood video and they a little Japanese movie called Train Man (Densha Otoko) It was really really really good, and cute. It is a romantic comedy that is based on actual events in Japan. A 22 year old geek who has never been in a relationship, much less a date saves a beautiful woman from being accosted by a drunk man on the train. From there he posts what happened on 2ch, a popular Japanese forum and gets help in dating her. It is quite funny in parts and is really well done. I recommend people go out and watch it and Fido, which I mentioned in my last post. So Eel and Rhiannon, we are going to have to all get together so you two can watch Fido and Train Man one of these days soon.

I am alive. I have been working 35 hours a week because someone at my work got fired. I like the amount of money I will be getting but I just wish that they would give me a steady schedule.
So update for my peeps on here who read my rants.
My father is still going through Chemotherapy and seems to be taking it all very well, I need to call him like tomorrow. I have been a bad son and not talked to him in like a week. He is still working as far as I know of, just on light duty.
Me and Kat will be getting married on or around October 25th. We are going through the motions of trying to find a place to match the time we want. We are planning on having it down here in Carbondale, but of course if anything changes I will let you all know.
Work. Work sucks, what can I say. I like it at times but then there are days that I really dislike it. Hopefully after my dad is done with Chemo I will find a different job that pays more, gives me more hours and a steady schedule. After all it is somewhat depressing to be a college grad working for a little over minimum wage, at a grocery store as Customer Service. But like I said I hope that will change when my dad is better.
I have been playing a lot of KOTOR on my computer here lately. It has made me feel nostalgic. Playing it makes me remember why I fell in love with Star Wars in the first place. On the note of nostalgia, Gary Gygax died last week to the horror of geeks and nerds around the world. At first I was not all that upset by it until I did some reading online and found out how much he meant to people around the world. It got me thinking of the old times, playing DnD, staying up all night to complete a quest and drinking lots of soda.
Well after all of the thoughts ran through my head I realized I have not RP'ed in ages. Well I have signed my self up to be a play-tester for The Dresden Files RPG and if I get chosen to do so am planning on making time to run at least one or two sessions to try out the new system. It seems like it could be fun, just because I am a huge fan of the books, so hopefully the system will be nice and complement it well.
Me and Kat have also had some changes in our pet lives. Zod the doom bringer has left our house to find a new residence with a new family he can hate and piss off. He was our bearded dragon who hated everything and everyone. He has now been replaced by the cutest rat in existence. We are also now down to 5 ferrets, our beloved Zoe died, after a few weeks of being ill. We knew it was coming, she was Kats favorite, Kat was her favorite. She is still missed, even by her ferret companions.
One last thing before I sign off for the night. Me and Kat own a new movie which is the fucking shit. It is Canadian, and Stars Carrie-Ann Moss and Billy "Il Duce" Connelly. It is a boy and his dog story with out the dog and replaced by a zombie! It is called Fido and it is seriously awesome, and everyone of my friends will be made to see it or should go and watch it themselves. It is really funny, and also very sweet.

So, I do not update, but I do try to keep up with all of my friends here on LJ.
Update in my life.
Leaving our Apt because of reasons, and I am glad to be leaving. Me and Kat have found a better place to live in Carbondale.
Work has been going well. Still at Schnucks. Was hoping to get a full time job at a bank, but will most likely not be happening now.
Am really into Doctor Who. Have been watching the newer series, 2005 to present. They are good, just like bananas.
Christmas has sucked. Gt some money, and cool presents, like Freaks and Geeks on DVD. I love them. It still sucked though. I got special news on Christmas, my dad has cancer. Lung and Kidney. He and I will not know anything more about it until the third of January. He will be seeing a specialist.
I will probably be staying with him for a bit, when things get into motion. I do not know for how long, but hopefully not too long. Hopefully it will not be that serious, and they caught it early enough.
Dear God! Please let this year be better than the last. I am very thankful that nothing went to complete shit this past year. My mom is ok after her anurism, she is recovering quite well, and I thank the stars that she is ok. But it still seems like everything has been off all year for alot of people, especially people I know. So please, let this year be better.

So, in case some of you do not know. my mother is currently in Barnes hospital because on Friday she suffered an Aneurysm. She seems to be doing fine now, but there are still some rough waters ahead. So I am still jobless and am going to make rent for the next month but my funds have depleated, so any of you in the Carbondale area who knows of some place that is hiring, let me know, I desperatley need a job.
Other then being jobless, things are going pretty good in the apartment. Me and Kat picked up some more things from my house the other day and I brought back a bunch of my old VHS tapes. A buch of good movies that reminded me of the younger days and when everyone used to watch VHS tapes. I mentioned to Kat, I cannot believe that we used to watch VHS tapes and now looking back, one can really see the difference. They are so blurry and you have to deal with the tracking and damn, DVDs are awsome.

Their old names are Hermes, Electra, and Mojo.
Me and Kat have decided to rename them Wash, Zoe, and River.
River is the white one, and she is crazy.
Wash and Zoe are the other two and they are bonded.

Well, things have been going good for me, working, playing games, school, girlfriend, all is pretty well at the moment. Things are going to get hectic fast though. I still need to find a job for the summer, pronto, for in like two weeks I move in to my apt with Kiersten and Erin, and thats got me a little stressed out, first time living on my own, having to move stuff like bed, desk, and dressers down from Centralia. PLUS actually having to work and pay rent. Now I know some of you are going to be thinking, HA! I do that now and have been doing that, but give me a break, first timer here, and I am a little worried. It is going to be great though, we have a pool in the back of the apt complex and a grill right outside our door, and once we get everything moved in and I have a steady job, things are going to wonderful and there might be a few moving in parties planned later on. Oh yeah, so any of my buddies here that have worked some place, or are working some place that might be hiring, let me know, I desperately need a job and so does Kat. So if any of you ex-Gamestop employees wanna let me use you as references, let me know so I can get your info sometime. Yeah, Gamestop seems like the kind of place I could work and not totally hate it, there is also Best Buy, Barnes n Noble, the Theaters, and a couple of the video stores. I need to get off of my ass and go apply sometime this week to all of them. If I could though, I would totally keep my job now at Women's Night Safety Transit, sweet ass gig there plus cool people to work with. Well that is about it for now, I will try and update more often. So yeah, I have a job at the campus Womens Night Saftey Transit now, working 4 days a week now, that along side school, well let me be honest, I dont do too much work for school, lol. But all is well, in like a month I move in with my lovely girlfriend Kiersten. I cannot wait, as long as I get a job, this summer should be great. I am also possibly graduating next semester. This scares the jeebus out of me, for I do not know what I am going to do. If I bring my GPA up there is Gradschool, or there is the idea of going to Cullinary school and becoming a chef, and there is always looking for a job I can get with my degree that I might happen to enjoy. Who knows, I guess time will tell and so will a trip to the Career Services. Well All is well in the life of Alan. I love life, myself and my girlfriend.
Oh, and in other news, Mick Foley did the J O B for Edge tonight, taking a loss at Wrestlemania in a Hardcore match. Plus, John Cena retained his title, due to the fans dismay.
